DESCRIPTION

JPCX Tech team is a group of talented software development managers, full-stack engineers, and technical product and program managers based in Tokyo, with a mission to build delightful and highly intuitive website Customer Experience (CX).

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Manager to be the single-threaded leader for multiple CX development teams: Consumer Experience, Delivery Experience, deals and promotion automation and discovery. This leader will command teams of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of new services and features on our website across all platforms (desktop, mobile browser, mobile shopping app). A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

In this team you will have the opportunity to:

· Be an actively contributing member of an agile development team, and have direct influence on the design, architecture, and implementation of a mission critical projects
· Work closely with business leaders in defining new customer-facing features and building a roadmap for delivery

Key responsibilities:
· Leader of leaders. Management of resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team (Software Engineers, Technical Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers)
· Responsible for the overall systems development lifecycle
· Help define the long-term strategy and translate that into an achievable roadmap
· Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
· Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
· Work closely with the engineers in Japan and our global partners to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
· Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior management

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 10 years experience
· Strong communication in Japanese and English
· 5+ years of industry experience as a software developer, ideally writing large scale systems
· 5+ years of experience as a people manager
· Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Experience working within agile software development lifecycles
· Experience owning and operating business critical applications and services and the ability to articulate operational health in terms of relevant KPIs and mechanisms for improvement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Deep hands-on technical expertise
· A deep understanding of software development in a team, agile methodologies, and a track record of shipping software on time
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong business and technical vision
· Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
· Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
· Experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems
· Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
· Master’s in computer science preferred
